Objectives
4.1. Engage and mobilise women media-persons from South Asia to promote the objectives of SAWM;
4.2. Establish broad-based chapters of SAWM across South Asia and develop networks among the various branches of media;
4.3. Monitor the role played by the media in promoting a balanced portrayal of women;
4.4. Facilitate networking among women in the media, at the national, regional and international levels;
4.5. Sensitise media organisations and the public to women related issues;
4.6. Build capacities of media professionals to better understand and address gender issues and gender sensitive media practices;
4.7. Build the skills and capacities of women media persons;
4.8. Develop guidelines for fair and accurate portrayal of women through the media;
4.9. Devise strategies for women media persons working in conflict situations so that they work in secure conditions.
