We are committed to:

 

--The ideals of freedom, democracy and equality;


--The commitment to the right to information and freedom of expression, recognised by the UN as being a “fundamental human right and the touchstone of all freedoms”—Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights—and a basis for an informed civil society and a pluralist, inclusive democracy;


--The freedom of the media for the promotion of fundamental rights, human security and democratic governance;


--The international conventions and commitments, including CEDAW, Beijing Platform for Action and MDGs;
